Back From Beyond...Sort Of

Almost 4 years since the last post?!? Now is as good a time as any to get back into the swing of things. The difference between now and then? What's happened? No long version. There were ups and downs and highs and lows, but the path has led me here.  It is a good place and we can leave it at that!

Why come back now? It's not like I have extra free time. The short of it is that this is something I need to do. Fangirling needs an outlet. Even for someone at my age.

I'll be back regularly and the shift will likely go to my latest obsession: Outlander. Meh, you say. No worries. I'll do my best not to bore you.

Until the next free moment...

Fog

I'm slowly coming out of it.  Thank God.  Becoming psychotic for 1.5 weeks out of a month is not my idea of a cup of tea!  To be fully aware of what a bitch you've become and the disregard for the feelings of those around you just makes you a complete lunatic.  It's also funny, after almost 2 decades of living together, how my hoosband just doesn't see it coming.  The minute I started to feel normal, I stepped up and apologized.  Believe it or not, he was so dumbfounded during the entire time I had "checked-out" and my evil twin decided to show up.  I'm amazed that he's still around!  Man, love really is blind.

The Beginning of the Madness

While the majority of America has recovered from the Holiday blitz, our family is just gearing up for our craziness.  The beginning of February marks the start of the craziest time of year for the Isip clan.  For some reason this year, it's already starting out with IOUs.  It probably has always been this way, but sadly I've really begun to notice it.  I know deep down that it's not that big of a deal.  A present is a present and it's the "thought that counts" and all, but I can't help but feel bad about it.  I so want to be the one to "get it right" all the time.

Mindless Entertainment

After 5 days of rain you'd think we'd be the first ones out there to go running through the sun.  Nope.  Leave it to us to keep it indoors!  Despite the fact that the rain has stopped for just for the weekend, it is flippin' COLD.  We're sticking to inside.

Off to the movies it was for the hoosband and me, without the kids in tow, in the middle of the afternoon, even!?!  Of all the things to take in:  Legion.  The previews were pretty straightforward and we knew it could go either way.  We just went in not expecting a damn thing... and it worked!  You shouldn't really expect much when you the trailer highlights grandma turning into a monster and crawling up the side of a wall.  What drew us to the movie, though, was the glimpse of a figure with angel wings holding a sword.  The image was enough to stir our imaginations and to remind us of our facsination with these creatures of god.  What we got was a bit more than just angels fighting against the monsters.

What I love about movies like these, however cheesy, lame or dumb, is that they get you thinking even if it's just for a moment or twelve.  I tend to get obsessive about these types of things and will probably think about it for weeks on end.  We'll go out and buy/order statues of Michael, recall stories of angelic wars, reread stories and watch movies that have these same themes.  So for a while it's something else to get lost in.

Going just a bit further, though, it's funny how something so mindless can become a focal point for a time.  It isn't about how crazy-stupid some of the images on the screen were, but it's about digging out an actual theme and applying it to your life.  I know.  It sounds like I've been smoking something crazy, but, really stop and think about it.  We know that humanity is stupid and wasteful.  Why hasn't God wiped us all out to begin again?  You could say that with the apocalyptic catastrophes of late, we could consider they're all a collective wake-up call to the world.  It could be said that mindless entertainment, like Legion, is just another avenue to make us think about what we're doing with ourselves.

Come to think of it, it must just be the 5 days of being cooped up.  Cabin fever tends to make us all a bit more philosophical.  I'd hate to see me if I had been on something after watching this movie and being stuck indoors!

She Talks to Herself

This is harder than I thought! I blame it all on my selfishness.  My brain just has too many ideas floating around and I can't focus on just one. There are too many conversations going on in my head when it comes to this. It's almost schizophrenic!

It seems so all important to get this blog right. Ah, that right there is the key.  The conversation is beginning again.  Who does it have to be "right" for? Me.  My sister who follows me.  Anyone who might just happen to read this.  Why?  It doesn't matter what they think.  You know that.  I'm selfish/conceited enough to admit that what people think does matter. The fact is it should matter.  Let's rephrase.  What matters is how I see what they see. Ultimately what they see is what I see.  Get it?  If you take that and apply it to every situation, then you'll "get" me.

I don't rely on other people's perception of me.  For the most part, it's more of what I think they perceive.  Believe me when I say I have enough confidence in what I do and say for a dozen people, but I still want you to like me and what I have to do and say!?!

I have the mindset where if you're able to look at yourself through another set of eyes, then you might truly be able to live the golden rule.  The voices in my head guide me and remind me of this.   Maybe with all the eyes and the voices coming from my head, I'll be able to get this blog on the road to somewhere.

Lost in the Middle

Leave it to a crisis event coupled with a holiday to bring me back to the beginning.  I've been floundering in the middle of a sea of life hoping that eventually I'd get pushed in the right direction.  Thanks to said crisis, turkey, and a pleasant reminder from my sis, I remembered that there is absolutely nothing wrong with going back to the start.  Like the crazy brain teasers that get you going until you can't figure out where you left off, sometimes you just have to start again.
